Tuesday, October 4, 2011

Newburgh, IN (October 4, 2011) - CGMA award-winning artist, David East, known for his work with the Original Gospel Sounds and the Southern Gospel Times, has completed a recording project containing 13 songs, 10 written by the artist. Entitled "He Kept His Promise", the project includes the fan favorite, "Morning After The Rapture". The project is scheduled for release on October 14, 2011.

"I'm very excited about this project, " said David. "It's taken longer than I planned to finish, but the extra time we took was worth it. I believe this will be a blessing to many."

During the 2011 CGMA (Country Gospel Music Association) Eastern Division Convention, David received five silver heart awards, namely: Manager of the Year, Producer of the Year, Instrumentalist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Favorite Artist of the Year. David also shared in the Band of the Year award which was given to the HeartsAfire! band, which he played keyboard for.

According to Billy Hale, President and Founder of the Country Gospel Music Association, "David made history this week. Never before in the history of the CGMA has a new member received the Favorite Artist award, which is given to the member who received the highest total amount of votes across all ballots. Clearly David made a huge impression on the other members."

Samples of the songs on the "He Kept His Promise" project can be heard, and ordered, at David's website,

About David East:
Award-winning singer, musician, songwriter, teacher, and evangelist David East developed his love for music at the age of 8 years old, singing in his home church and at school functions. This love for music led him to first learn to play the guitar, taking weekly lessons for a year and eventually increasing his ability through self-instruction and study. Early in his life, David exhibited a strong ear for music, excelling in both instrumental and vocal performance.

David has learned to play a total of 13 instruments, but he’s best known for his piano and keyboard work in studios, in churches, and in concert. Always a fan favorite, once the big man gets behind the piano you know that you’re in for a wealth of good music and entertainment. His playing is a mixture of several different styles presented with his own flair. When you listen you can hear the influences of Jimmy Swaggart, Jerry Lee Lewis, Floyd Cramer, Bruce Hornsby, Billy Joel, Hargus “Pig” Robbins, and others.

In addition to being a part of the popular groups the Original Gospel Sounds and HeartsAfire!, David is embarking upon a solo career to further fulfill the call God has placed on David’s life.
